Getting started
Can I try a class before joining?
Yes. Your first two trial classes are free. Contact the academy so we can help you choose the right program and arrange your visit.
Do I need previous martial arts experience?
No. Beginners are welcome. Your instructor will help you learn the fundamentals and progress at a suitable pace.
What should I wear to a trial class?
Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move freely. You do not need to buy a uniform before your trial. Ask the academy about anything else you should bring when arranging your visit.
How do I book a trial?
Complete our Taekwondo enquiry form or call 441-777-5353 to arrange your first class.
Where is the academy?
You can find us at 6 Parliament Street, Hamilton, Bermuda. Call the academy if you need directions before your first visit.
Programs & class times
Which program is right for my child?
Tiger Tots is for ages 4–6, Little Tigers for ages 6–10, and Big Cats for ages 11–16. If your child is between programs or you are unsure, speak with an instructor about the most suitable class.
Do you offer adult classes?
Yes. Adult Taekwondo welcomes adults, including beginners. Selected teens may also train in this program with instructor guidance.
When are classes held?
Sessions vary by program. Visit Class Times and select your program to see the timetable. Please confirm current sessions with the academy before attending.
How often should I train?
Consistency helps you build confidence and retain skills. Speak with your instructor about a realistic training routine for your program, experience and goals.
Can I join if I have trained elsewhere?
Contact the academy and tell us about your previous training and rank. An instructor can discuss the right starting point and any assessment needed.
Uniforms & membership
When do I need a uniform?
Comfortable clothing is suitable for your trial classes. Uniforms cost $100. Once you decide to join, ask the academy about sizing and ordering.
Do I need sparring equipment straight away?
Ask your instructor before buying equipment. They will explain what is required for your class and when you are ready for sparring practice.
How much does membership cost?
Tiger Tots costs $100 per month. Little Tigers, Big Cats and Adult Taekwondo each cost $125 per month. Your first two trial classes are free. Uniforms cost $100. Contact the academy for payment arrangements and other equipment costs.
How do I access the members portal?
Use the Members link for quick access to class times, curriculum and training resources. Sign-in is not connected in this design mockup; contact the academy for access to the existing member service.
Training & progression
What will I learn?
The curriculum covers Poomsae (forms), Hoshinsul (self-defence), Kyorugi (sparring) and Kyopka (breaking techniques). Training also develops coordination, focus, discipline and respect. Explore the curriculum.
How does belt promotion work?
Promotion reflects the techniques, understanding and conduct required for each rank. Your instructor will guide your preparation and explain when you are ready for assessment. View the rank requirements. Read about progression.
How long does it take to earn a black belt?
There is no single timeline for every student. Progress depends on consistent practice, technical development and readiness for each stage. Your instructor can discuss your individual goals.
Will I have to spar or compete?
Sparring is one part of the curriculum and is introduced through instructor-led practice. Speak with your instructor about readiness, equipment and expectations. If you are interested in competition, ask about preparation and available opportunities.
Can I practise at home?
Ask your instructor which exercises and techniques are appropriate for your level. Use a clear space and practise only what you have been taught. Leave partner techniques, sparring and breaking for supervised training.
Who teaches at Champion?
The academy is led by Master Edmond Johnson, Head Instructor and 6th Dan. Master Umar Durrant, 4th Dan, specialises in Poomsae.
